MIE 2024: Pioneering Innovations in Digital Health

The 34th European Conference on Medical Informatics (MIE 2024), held from 25–29 August at the Eugenides Foundation in Athens, was a remarkable success, bringing together 780 delegates from fifty-six countries! This premier international event showcased cutting-edge advancements in digital health and health informatics, addressing the urgent need for sustainable health systems amid global challenges.

 

The conference featured 341 oral presentations, eighty-five posters, and 700 submissions across twelve thematic sessions, including artificial intelligence in health, telemedicine, and public health informatics.

 

Keynote speakers, including Professor George Demiris and Professor Anne Moen, presented innovative strategies for empowering citizens with technology and improving health systems for the elderly. Their insights highlighted the critical interconnectivity of health information systems and the need for inclusivity in accessing health services.

 

 

ICDAR 2024: Pioneering the Future of Document Analysis and Recognition

The 18th International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR 2024) brought together experts and innovators from around the globe. From 30 August to 4 September 2024, the conference illuminated the crucial role of digital transformation in enhancing modern authorship through artificial intelligence and machine learning.

 

Co-organised by the esteemed National Centre for Scientific Research ‘Demokritos’, a beacon of research and innovation for over fifty years, and the Athena Research Centre, known for its cutting-edge work in information technologies, ICDAR 2024 welcomed more than 450 participants from various disciplines.

 

Under the theme ‘Sciences and Practices Involved in Document Analysis and Recognition’, the conference featured inspiring keynotes from renowned experts. Professor Jürgen Schmidhuber, a luminary in the field of AI, delivered a captivating opening keynote. His pioneering work in deep learning and neural networks has profoundly shaped the landscape of artificial intelligence. In his talk, he shared invaluable insights on the evolution of AI, exploring how these advancements can be harnessed to revolutionise document analysis and recognition.

 

The discussions at ICDAR 2024 have paved the way for new collaborations, innovative ideas,and significant advancements in document analysis, emphasising the vital contributions of Demokritos and the Athena Research Centre in shaping the future of this field.

 

CONVIN Powers Huawei’s Global Launch

Recently, CONVIN supported Huawei in the successful launch of their Alpha Series Antenna at the Global Antenna Technology and Industry Forum 2024 in Athens. Huawei’s groundbreaking product required a sophisticated, well-coordinated event to match its innovation. Through careful planning and efficient execution, CONVIN ensured the event’s success, highlighting their capacity to deliver high-profile corporate events on a global scale.

 

ELPAT 2024

CONVIN is proud to have been selected by EASO to organise the ELPAT 2024 Working Group Meeting, held from 3–5 October 2024, in Thessaloniki, Greece. The event brought together experts in transplantation to discuss ethical, legal and psychosocial issues.

 

Titled ‘ELPAT Revisited’, the meeting featured keynotes by Professor Georgios Tsoulfas and Yiouli Menoudakou, fostering critical dialogue within the transplantation community.
