For several years, AIM Italy has been supporting the ‘Food for Good’ programme, which transforms waste into a valuable resource. The programme, promoted by Federcongressi&eventi (national meeting industry association) in collaboration with the NGOs Banco Alimentare (food bank) and Equoevento, enabled our teams to recover surplus food from the major events (>100 participants) that they organised in Italy in 2022 and to deliver it to local charitable organisations (family homes, soup kitchens and refugee centres), thereby reducing the event’s environmental impact and supporting local communities.
Overall, we donated 2,400 meals including pasta, second courses, vegetables, water bottles and many kilos of fruit and bread.
Food for Good has been included among the best practices of the EU Platform on Food Losses and Food Waste.
