Rome 13 March 2017 –The tasks of planning, organising, preparing and “turnkey” management of the Summit of Heads of State and Government for the year of the Italian G7 Presidency in 2017 − which shall be held in Taormina this coming 26 and 27 May − have been entrusted to EGA Congresses&Events, a pioneer in the field of management of Major Events in Italy and abroad. EGA Congresses&Events heads a temporary grouping of companies including Studio 80 Group (a company specialised in designing and building architectural works for communication activities) and Volume (a leading company in the field of technological Audio, Video and Lights installations).
The award of lot 1 of the European competition, organised by Consip (a public joint stock company held by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance), to the temporary grouping of companies headed by EGA Congresses&Events is the outcome of the tremendous work put in by a team of experts with a passionate commitment to excellence. Since 1965, this team has been developing its particular skills base in the field of provision of services to governments, institutions, companies and major scientific organisations within the ambit of major national and international events. According to Claudia Maria Golinelli, Vice-president of Ega and full professor of management of tourism and cultural businesses at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, “given the political and economic importance of the G7, also from the media angle, organising G7 requires specific skills for management of complexities where there is no room for improvisation. Indeed, with the world looking on, we have responsibilities toward the image of the country, as a whole and as a system. I am indeed most gratified to see this acknowledgement of the consolidated experience of my company, emerging from a European competition that drew tenders from all the major players operating in this sector. As with Expo 2015, we take up this task with little more than two months in which to organise the event as a whole. This is a challenge, the latest of innumerable challenges taken on by EGA and the team as a whole. In doing so, we place ourselves − and our full and passionate commitment, our specific expertise concerning the various aspects of preparing events − entirely at the disposal of the Delegation for the Organisation of the G7 Presidency”.
The Ega grouping, with Studio 80 Group and Volume shall take on the tasks of organising and providing a “turnkey” solution for the summit. These tasks include executive planning, hospitality, designing and producing the architectonic and technological installations, as well as organising cultural programmes and the performing-arts event at the Greek theatre, Teatro Greco, in Taormina.
Emma Aru, President and founder of Ega − and an international opinion leader in the events sector – sees “every single detail concerning the G7 summit devised and put in place in order to ensure that all participants take away with them a distinct impression of the essence of Italian excellence in its various forms, and of Italy’s history, culture and values, so that the Heads of State and Government will find an ideal setting in which to provide the groundwork for a renewal of trust which is a need felt worldwide”.

Company Profile
About Ega – Congresses & Events
Since 1965, Ega has been organising events and congresses of national and international importance. Ega was founded by Emma and Cristina Aru, pioneers at the time of the birth of the congresses sector in Italy, and pathbreakers in developing Ega’s international outreach. The company is now headed by Prof. Claudia Golinelli, full professor of management of tourism and cultural businesses at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Prof. Golinelli heads a team of more than 30 experts from this sector, with decades of experience in the field, whose common trait is their total dedication to the task of making sure events are never “just” events. They must be truly memorable occasions. Thanks to its in-house training policy (with IAPCO certification), and to the company’s international outreach through membership of INCON (to be found in 32 countries and 72 cities worldwide) – and a willingness to listen to others and to innovate constantly –, Ega has become not only a PCO in the traditional sense but also a reliable partner when organising governmental and institutional events, corporate events, scientific events and concerts open to the public.
Among our key institutional events and projects, we note Fast Post Expo – ParcoExperienceMilano (Arexpo spa), Carnevale di Milano (Milan’s carnival), Estate Sforzesca and Vacanze a Milano (Municipality of Milan), Festa della Lombardia (Lombardy festivity), the youth initiative Garanzia Giovani and the Arrivederci in Lombardia initiative of the Regione Lombardia (regional government authority of Lombardy), management of all Expo Milano 2015 and Padiglione Italia (Italian pavilion) events, the 28th International Meeting for Peace (Tirana 6-8 September 2015) (Government of the Republic of Albania), the Six-Month Italian Presidency of the European Council − Milan, Rome, Florence, Turin, 1 June-31 December 2014, and the G8 Summit L’Aquila 2009 (Office of the President of the Council of Ministers).

About Studio 80 Group
Dating back to the late 1970s, a number of Studio 80’s major events introduced Italian players in the sector to tensile structures and their use at large-scale gatherings such as the world surgeons’ congress, the national congress of the nursing profession, and the founding of the Alleanza Nazionale political party (during the famous Congress in Fiuggi). As a parallel activity, Studio 80 began to provide stands for companies at trade fairs, thus entering into professional relations with players in various Italian cities, whereupon the group qualified as “allestitore ufficiale” (official set up provider) at the Fiera di Roma (Rome trade fair) between 1995 and 1998 and as “fornitore ufficiale” (official supplier) of the Fiera di Padova and the Fiera di Genova (Padua and Genoa trade fairs). Key group initiatives taking place in the late 1990s include large-scale international events, above all in Russia and Japan, and the set up provided for the large-scale Made in Italy collective events organised by the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE).
In 2015, Studio 80 acquired a structure equipped with the full array of competencies in its various areas of activity. Studio 80 prides itself in the efficiency and experience of its expert professionals, fully backed up by the resources of an industrial plant whose equipment and technologies are updated on an ongoing basis.
